“Lake Nona” is a 7,000-acre mixed-use planned community within the city limits of Orlando, southeast of Orlando International Airport. The community itself is named for a large lake in the northern part of Florida.

Being developed by Lake Nona Property Holdings (owned by Tavistock Group), the Lake Nona Region is home to Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, life sciences cluster becoming known as Lake Nona’s medical city, and an array of retail centers, recreational facilities, and residential options.

Lake Nona Medical City is considered a biomedical research and educational hub since it includes the University of Central Florida College of Nursing and the University of Central Florida College of Dental Medicine, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, the Orlando Veterans Administration Medical Center, Nemours Children’s Hospital, and a University of Florida Academic and Research Center. In the Lake Nona area, the population has grown from merely 1,500 in 2000 to over 50,000 people in 2015. In just the past 5 years alone, the population increased from roughly 27,000 people, nearly doubling.

Lake Nona means better, healthier living. 40% preserved green space. Built parks on every corner, pools in every neighborhood and 44 miles of trails crisscrossing throughout. Lake Nona is a gigabit community offering internet speeds 200 times faster than the average US household.

Lake Nona Town Center is a regional shopping and entertainment destination with an ample collection of shopping opportunities in the form of department stores, large-scale retail shops, and trendy fashion boutiques. As well, two hotels—a Marriott Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott—stand within the Center and host visitors from all around.
